We've done it. Actually from NJ.
We didn't make any extended stops - just bathrooms, lunch and dinner.
We went straight in one day. It took about 19 hours.
Each had a backpack of both healthy and unhealthy snacks and toys of their choosing.
The DVD player saved our lives. Not one "are we there yet?"
It was running for about 14 of the 19 hours we were in the car.
Someone was almost always up.
It really worked great as far as the kids were concerned, but dh and I were utterly exhausted. As a passenger neither of us felt comfortable falling into a deep sleep in case the driver got drowsy.
It was hard. We arrived in the evening so after some unpacking a good night's sleep revived us.
The kids (four of them aged 2-8 at the time) were really awesome.
What are your plans?
Will you stop to sleep overnight?
Adding: We didn't stop at Orlando, we went to the Ft. Lauderdale area.

We packed lots of meal foods including food in a cooler with ice.
For breakfast we took cereals and milk. I guess we stopped for breakfast to avoid spilling that.
We brought tuna, eggs (my kids love eggs), bread or pita, lots of drinking water, peeled and sliced veggies, fruit, cheese, yogurts, paper goods, pretzels. Deli meat for sandwiches. Cold chicken. Potato salad. Picnic style food for dinner. Lots of napkins and tissues. Baby wipes for messy fingers without having to stop to wash up.
We go camping often, so we are used to packing this type of food.

Lots and lots of entertainment for the kids. Think books, crafts, DVDs, depending on their age and interests.
