If they ate popular enough they get advertisers, or sponsors for events. Depends what kind of blog

Most blogs make money by allowing ads to be placed on the side. If you're popular enough and get enough hits, it can add up to a nice income. Other bloggers get paid to review or post about certain subjects as a form of advertising.

Ok, so say a blog has an Amazon ad for example. Is Amazon paying the blogger to have the banner there? How much? Or does Amazon only pay a few cents every time someone links to their site from the blog? Or do they pay for every visit the blog gets? Does anyone know details and how profitable it is? How much can be expected to be made from doing this?

Blogs make money pennies at a time... literally, it's pennies for all your hard work.
On the other hand, if you get a job as a content writer, you can get paid to blog for some company's website... as in, the company's website needs new articles with the right keywords in it so people find their website and buy their stuff.
But as far as referral links and affiliates, those things are literally pennies. If you can build a huge following, then it may be worthwhile.
IMO, you make money from blogging when your blog draws people to your real-life business.

I have a friend making tens of thousands a year just from her niche blog. I thought I originally met her here on imam other.... maybe she'll chime in.
