Can he exercise *outside*? Bike riding, baseball, basketball, etc. -- the usual.

We started working out together doing pushups, situps, squats in our living room. We eventually bought dumbbells, and now we're really into working out.

If OP is in the NY area, or even large swaths of the US, It has been VERY VERY VERY cold. Even this week we had temps in the 20s.

Although the forecast is for it to finally warm up, so we will see.

I live in NYC and walked a mile each way to my gym in the dark mornings. We took very few days off this winter.

With a Down coat & good boots I was fine.

Once the weather warms up he can do lots of bike riding and ball playing. Until then try An aerobics cd he can do.

get a small trampoline. The kid can jump and jog to his heart's content and not disturb the neighbors downstairs. I also agree with chocolate moose that so long as one bundles up properly, one can walk or hike quite well in the cold. Studies have shown that people who exercise outdoors at least half an hour a day in winter get fewer colds than people who stay indoors.

Trampoline may make lots of noise for downstairs neighbours, the jumping, the moving...

Can the kid run more at recess? or tell his friends to play ball? of course if it's cold and recess is inside, well then...
