We are coming to America for Pesach and will have a couple of days in NY before we get to our destination. DH wants to take the kids to the Intrepid, but I checked out ticket prices and when I added them up, plus subway/parking, the outing will cost over $100!!! That is insane, especially since the day before we'll be visiting the Jewish Children's Museum and that will cost nearly $80.
What are some similar, cheaper but also exciting things to do with kids ranging in age from 3-10?

Living Torah Museum is $10/person and really worth it for 3+ hours of indoor fun.
My family goes there pretty often - we love it. It's very tactile and exciting.

Does it have to be in NYC?
The Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island might be a good alternative to the Intrepid. There's also a children's museum and firefighter museum right next door.

If the weather is nice, the Bronx Zoo is a fantastic place to visit.
The New York Hall of Science in Queens is fun too, if your kids like that kind of thing. Check to see if they're running any sorts of programs.

If it's a nice weather, you should check out Governor's Island. I'm not sure what they have now at this time of year, you can google it. But it's a really beautiful and fun place to spend the day: two forts with tours, playground, ferry ride there and back, bike riding...
