There was a similar story of a mother with IIRC ALS who went with her 14 y.o. to try on wedding gowns. At least I'm assuming they're similar as I'm not taking time to see the link. It's not just erev Shabbos, I don't think I can handle it now.
I don't know if I want to start a discussion on a public forum that these parents might be able to access. I have, let's just say, very mixed feelings and don't want to say anything potentially hurtful.
