so the famous kedem raspberry syrup ... you know the one that lasts forever ... how long do you hold onto yours before replacing it ...

my kids claimed ours was from 1980 - yeah they weren't even born yet ... but I'm thinking we finished that one from the late 80's and went onto one from say 2001 Tongue Out

My kids finish as much as I buy every year. They'll drink it after pesach until it's all done. So we buy new every year, no leftovers.

we go through several bottles each pesach!

We use it in cooking, and also for a lemon-raspberry drink.

I would only put away unopened bottles from year to year.

I remember them from when I was a kid, but I wouldn't buy the stuff. Last year I made ginger ale, but this year I forgot. Confused

well you can put it in seltzer for raspberry soda

pour it on chocolate mousse for a taste of heaven

some of my kids used to put it in milk in lieu of chocolate syrup

This thread just reminds me of how much I love this raspberry syrup. I have a friend whose grandmother use to give this stuff to all of the grandchildren, neighbors, etc. She used a bottle a month at least!

We always joke about the raspberry syrup - how come we're allowed to eat that on Pesach but we can't eat raspberries on Pesach, and no soda etc etc. I mean, raspberries have so many issues regarding kashrut and pesach stuff, can't peel them etc. We like to argue about that Wink

My siblings in israel always say how they miss the taste of this on pesach. It was a staple when I was growing up.
Sorry I don't know how long it lasts. We always finished it I think.

P.S. I never knew that this was considered a pesach drink by some. It's good all year round warm!

I guess at $5 a bottle it's a pesach treat - especially when some of us don't drink much else

That's so funny, I just finally threw out a bottle I had sitting around for a few years, since this was the first time we made Pesach at home in a while. I don't know why we didn't use it up originally-- the stuff is amazing. But it got forgotten for awhile and then I kept not being sure if it was still good so we never finished it but I felt bad to throw it out. Now that we were home for Pesach I finally got rid of it before Pesach and bought two new ones. We went through one bottle on yom tov and this time I'm going to make sure the other one doesn't go to waste. Seriously that stuff is the best. That and chocolate jelly rings Smile
