I don't understand the usage of the word 'davka'. Can someone supply me examples and meanings?

Usually it's used to mean "specifically" or "particularly" - as in "I davka chose the red stroller because everyone else has blue ones, and I wanted to be able to find mine at the park." (I have no idea what color strollers are in these days, hope that was a good example.)

It can also be used to mean on purpose, as in "why did you davka do that when I said not to?"

You know Yiddish "punkt"? (Not in the sense of "punktual", err, "punctual".) Davka means punkt. Or rather, punkt means davka, Aramaic being an older language than Yiddish.

per the classic Alcalay Hebrew-English dictionary: only so; exactly so; precisely; exactly; just to spite.
But beware: you wouldn't tell someone that a train departs "davka" at 4:27 pm--you'd say "bediyuk". You'd say you took "davka" the 4:42 train because it's an express and gets you home five minutes earlier than the 4:27.
