I have been working with a public google doc (created by someone else) on facebook and I would like be able to bring that google doc to make it part of my google drive. I can't figure out how. Can anyone help?

Are you sure it's not there under the Shared with me left nav option?
If not, ask the owner to share it with you by putting in your email address. After that it will show up in your drive under "shared with me"

Once it's in Shared with me you can click the check box. Then above there is a choice to move it to your drive if you want it there.
