How much should I charge for the following editing/proofreading jobs:
1. A book, with about 100,000 words: Do I charge by page, or should I charge one bulk sum?
2. Weekly/daily articles: How much is normal to charge per hour?

It depends so much on how much experience you have, how fast you work and how good you are. I'm in the field and it ranges from $15 - $100 per hour.

How about for a book?
Should I charge by hour, or make up a bulk some, or charge by page?

Just for an estimate, how much is normal to charge for a book with about 80,000 words?

I don't have book experience, so I can't help you with that, but daily/weekly/monthly I charge between $25 and $40 an hour depending on the client.
On the book, I would suggest doing a sample chapter and then see if both sides want to go forward with the job.

For a book, I would NOT recommend billing per page; the author will make revisions a thousand times and you will be stuck editing the same rewritten page over and over and over again for one low, low price. Per hour is best.
