I know that there are some amazing poets on Imamother. I've seen it purim time...
Anyways, my kindergarten class is having a multi cultural day on Friday and I am looking for a poem that the class could read or 2 students to read to the parents and principals.

It needs to be about culture-the way we live our life: the language, food, clothing, holidays that each culture has.

I did try googling it but I couldnt find anything appropriate.

Please, please, please...

Thank you so much.
anon because I've spoken to people IRL

Everybody is born different
None of us are just the same
We have different likes and dislikes
Tolerance should be our aim!

My prayers to G-d are unlike yours
My festivals a different day
But we're still friends, there's no reason
Why these facts get in the way.

You wear this and I wear that
My food is spicy, yours is bland
Although we don't speak the same language
We can still walk hand in hand Smile

Bravo, amother! Some of the vocabulary might need editing for kindergarten.

Here are a few links of interest for the OP. The key words that seemed to help with Google are "multicultural", " diversity" "kindergarten", "preschool", "poem".

how about having them draw faces on each of their fingers (washable skin paint or smething) or make them such paper menchies for each finger and each a diffrent kind of person and say

some of us are small
some of us so tall
some skins are black
while some are white
some hair is dark
while others light
some speak french
others chinese
one likes spicey meat
while others love cheese
his mom wears a hijab
her dad a yarmulke
my friend celebrates x-mas
while we observe diwali
we all have different cultures,
customs and languages
but our dreams are all the same
for a world of joy and peace

I am afraid the last don't rhyme too well...

Thank you Imasinger Smile

I was beginning to think I was invisible. OP was not obliged to love my poem - but it might have been nice if she had at least ACKNOWLEDGED it.

Whatever.

My garden is full of wonderful flowers,
I love them all, and can stare upon them for hours.
Each one is different in its own unique way,
No two are the same on any given day.
Some of the flowers are larger, while others are small;
Some of them are vines on the floor, while others sprout tall.
Some of them are red, others are purple, yellow, and pink,
They come in every size and color of which you can think.
So too are we people in the garden of Earth,
Unique individuals since the day of our birth.
While we may like different things, and not look the same,
Being different and unique is no shame.
Each one of us is a special, shining star,
And so we respect each another for who we are.
It makes no difference if our skin is dark or light,
What is important is to remember to always be polite.
Like the flowers we come in all different sizes,
But we all possess our own special prizes.
We may speak different languages and come from different places,
But we can all smile to one another’s faces.
We may wear different clothes and eat different food,
But one another we must never exclude.
When you look around and see those different from you,
Remember that to them, you look different too.
We are all unique: it is what makes us who we are,
Each and every one of us is a special, shining star.
