I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. Thanks for describing her so that we can get an idea of the type of person your grandmother was. She was an amazing woman & I hope that your entire family can be comforted by the fact that she passed away at home with loved ones near her. Your grandfather especially will need lots of support at this sad time & I hope you will all be able to give each other chizzuk.

When I was sitting shiva for my father a"h, I was told by a rebbetzin that the mitzvah of kibud av doesn't stop at the parent's death. She was told this by a rav when she was sitting shiva for her father. Every time she was in a grocery store & put some money in the tzedaka box, she thought to herself that this tzedaka should be an aliyah for her father's neshama. She also told her children & grandchildren to keep this in mind every time they made a bracha or some other mitzvah. It was a comfort to me to think that I was able to give my father's neshama an aliyah. I just wanted to pass this along.

BDE So sorry for your loss.
She sounds like she was an amazing woman, and I am sure you will all miss her.
Thanks for sharing your story, I love reading real stories about real people.
It was very inspiring to read.
Some people just make everyone around them smile. Even when they are gone.
You were blessed to have such a grandmother, and lucky she lived long enough for you to gain so much from her. Their marriage is also a beautiful thing to read about.
May your family be comforted amongst the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem, and know of no more sorrows.
