What a perfect waste of aluminum foil.

I throw it in the sink and take it out at night when I clean the drain.

Put it on the lichter tray until after shabbos.
I never use matches otherwise, but used to wait till they cooled down, when it is no more flammable than any random piece of paper. I use disposable lighters otherwise, although my stock has almost run out, originating from an old friend who smoked and used to leave his lighters at our house! Who throws a hot match in the garbage?

I only use matches for transferring flames on Yom Tov, and then I leave it to burn out and cool inside a random clay receptacle one of my kids once made in art that has no other recognizable form or use (anybody remember the used tea bag holder from the Cosby Show?). Otherwise, we use the long lighters that are good for grills. They are off when they are off, and they are challenging to use for small children, unlike a box of matches with which ds once set a small fire on my rug. Haven't kept matches in the house since (I get them only for Yom Tov).

It is what the sanitation department recommends.
They also say to keep it in a separate bin for metals (because of the aluminum foil), but most cities are not makpid on that......... |

If I'm throwing it out right after using it I rinse it under water. If it's been a few minutes and it's totally cool then I just toss it.

I have a little tile where I lay matches. I dump it in the trash once a week. Plenty of time for them to cool off.
