Quote: | I really enjoyed your Simcha, especially the Garlic bread,
But long after I left, the music was still vibrating in my head.
I like soft music, not loud and cruel
But this type of punishment was most unusual.
Had you been my employer, and I, your employee
OSHA would certainly have fined you, absolutely.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration
Sets forth work environment regulations.
The noise level must be 85 decibels or less,
And your Simcha was 100, is my best guess.
That level, says OSHA, causes permanent nerve damage,
Which translates to hearing loss, so there goes my marriage.
Who wants to say “What?” when speaking to someone dear,
Let alone suffer the incessant ringing in my ears?
Listen to my advice. From now on you should…
Oh no. You didn’t hear me? That is not good. |
I wrote this. Feel free to use without my permission. Sell it if you can and claim it as your own.

well put. My husband actually offered to give a musician money to buy something to measure decibel level since the musician said the way that he tells if he is playing at a good volume is if he can't hear the bar mitzvah boy's friends singing He turned my husband down though. This is how strongly my husband feels about it.
We told someone at that bar mitzvah that my husband is willing to go to her son's bar mitzvah and be in charge of telling the band to lower the volume if she gives him permission, she claims she'll take him up on it but we'll see ....
In general we don't go to weddings etc for a number of reasons this being one of them. It's so sad that people have such loud simchas I don't understand it.

Op here.
Actually, if you have to shout to your friend at a close range, then the music is at a dangerous level and causes permanent hearing loss.
