I have baked challah twice since I got married. The first time, I used a recipe with my mixer and they came out fluffy and beautiful. Then recently my husband requested denser challah, so I tried a bread machine challah recipe, and they came out dense and very slightly doughy (though fully cooked). He did not enjoy them. The only description I can get out of him is that he likes it when homemade challot are dense and crumbly. Can anyone clarify for me what kind of recipe I should be looking for??
I have a 5 quart kitchenaid mixer and a zojirushi 2lb bread machine, if that helps.
TIA!
