Shomriel! Or, Shomri for short. I knew a boy once with this name and I absolutely love it.... Thoughts?

I have never met anyone with he his name.
I like the name, very much. I like the meaning. I am not really feeling the nickname though.

I think it sounds weird. It's like making up a name from the Hebrew words shomer and E-l. It also doesn't sound good. It's too long and complicated. It makes you want to figure out what it means.

I have never heard of it.
Honestly, if you like it it is entirely your choice and a bunch of anonymous women online should not change your opinion.
But since you asked, it is not on my favorite list of names.

Honestly you do what you want. But if you want my opinion I do think it's an odd name.

I like it I think it sounds very nice but to be honest I have started a thread on the name Yom tov, and one poster told me about someone who went off the derech, and blamed his name asking why his parents would name him something that would make him never feel like he fits in. although I love the name Yom tov, I gave it up. I personally like the sound of your name very much. did you look it up it sounds like it could be an angel's name. good luck in your decision.

HAHAHAHA good one, Yomtov makes you go off the derech! Like, Tosfos Yomtov must have been wayy off
That said, Shomriel is not my cup of tea. Try to google it in hebrew maybe and see if there are others

I think 'creative' people should change their own names, not saddle their children with weird names.

Oh, please, no! The name screams "nebbish". Plus it sounds like the Hebrew word for yeast (Shmarim). Good name for an online purveyor of bread baking supplies in Israel: Shmar-Yahoo.
