I bought a steak called California steak. What is the best way to cook it?

I bake one of two ways:
1. Slice onions, place in 9x13. Sprinkle steak with onion powder, garlic powder, some soy sauce. Place on top of onions. Cover with more sliced onions. Bake covered.
2. Slice onions, place in 9x13. Sprinkle steak with onion powder and garlic powder. mix ketchup and brown sugar and spoon over meat. Cover with sliced onions. Bake covered.
You can skip the fresh onions in both recipes.
