I didn't. Dd is going this year. I got a scholarship and help with the ticket but I don't have money for clothes and other stuff. They need button down shirts and pleated skirts. Wwyd. What is the minimum. I live oot. The pleated skirts are very expensive.

I know, they're so expensive and it's so frustrating because who's even going to wear them after seminary. feels like such a waste of money Sad speaking as someone who went to seminary in the recent past, not even as the mother who has to pay for them ;-)

I would say 2 skirts and 5 shirts is the bare minimum

Sometimes, girls find an older friend who will give or sell things used. Does your DD know anyone from school or camp who went to this seminary?

She doesn't know anybody. She is size 0 so it is harder to find anyway. What else do we need to get her besides shirts and skirts?

Perhaps she can get used pleated skirts from girls who finished high school, pleated skirts are part of many high school uniforms.

I guess I lucked out that my high school uniform included solid navy blue pleated skirts. Not especially fashionable, but good enough to match with multiple tops. If your daughter wore a plaid, though, that's another story.

There are definitely school uniform gemachs in large OOT places like Los Angeles and Chicago. Are you really out in the Jewish boonies?

Can she earn money to pay for some of it? She can't go with no clothes but perhaps she can borrow once there.

She has navy blue pleated skirts from high school. There are not very nice. Are the girls really use their high school skirts?

I think most girls definitely pay for some of the stuff themselves. Can you daughter do that?

Underwear and socks\tights. (At least 9 of each)
Linen and Towels (including pillow and quilt)
Shabbos Clothing
Bath Robe
Shoes, Sneakers, Sandals, Shabbos Shoes
Winter coat, Sweatshirt, raincoat or light jacket (optional)

That is off the top of my head, I'm sure there is more.

My DD seminary sent a suggested packing list. My older DD says 4 uniform skirts (two shirt and two long) and two short nice ones. Also extra pencil or flairy skirts that she normally would wear to go out with friends.

12-15 blouses, 8-10 sweaters cardigans

This is just a suggestion. Do what you can. Lots of tights and pantyhose. And the usual undergarments pajamas shoes etc.

My girls both worked and contributed financially to whatever I considered extra.

High school ones are ideal, given that she will wear them again and again, store them in a small, overstuffed cupboard or drawer, use a washer that is probably poor quality and potentially get them dusty, wet muddy etc hiking around. Definitely need clothes to be hardwearing and consistently neat, so pleats are good for that, ideally non iron.

Save the spending for when she comes home after sem and starts dating, iyh!
