Every recipe from google seems to have milk and/or butter. How can I make pareve mashed potatoes? Can I sub a can a vegetable broth instead of milk?

Soymilk, salt, pepper.
I am sure you could substitute rice/coconut/almond milk
I have made it with olive oil years ago (yum Wink ) but now use the soymilk since I prefer not to add so much fat.

Add some of the water you cooked the potatoes in. It makes it surprisingly creamy. We add margarine also.

I have heard off adding mayo, but never tried it.

Almond milk, margarine and soy sour cream. Not healthy but so yummy. I like to add caramelized onions too.

One of my friends made mashed potatoes with cashew cream! It was so good. And cashew cream is just raw cashews, soaked for a few hours, then blended with water. It should have a similar consistency as cows milk.

Sautee onions. Then add to mashed potatoes. Spice with salt and pepper- yum! The onions and oil it was sautéed in make it delicious Smile
ETA onions should be caramelized

I make mine with soy milk, a little margarine, garlic salt, onion powder and a little pepper. My guests and husband love it. I freeze the leftovers in small bags and use for potato borekas.

Salt, pepper, a little mayo and a little of the water the potatoes boiled in. I also like to add sauteed onions, or garlic, or fresh herbs like dill or rosemary.

I've never tried it with mayo before, but I'm sure going to do it next time. Sounds yummy, thanks for the tip! Very Happy

ditto on the mayo! I've made it and it comes out really good and creamy ( I like it better than w milk). Just add it in slowly, want it to be creamy texture but not for it to taste like mayo!

veg broth sounds yummy though for flavor

From Tori Avey -- saffron mashed potatoes. I've also made these without the saffron. Always a hit.

Margarine and garlic powder. If you want super creamy, use a hand blender to mash.

Mayo, some of the water it was cooked in and salt. Then mash it with immersion blender. Makes it extra creamy!

my aunts trick is to add a raw egg right after its mashed and mix it in. it gets cooked from the hot potatoes (if you dont mix it well you will have pieces of cooked egg in them). makes it very smooth.
