High schools can't give out answers until shavuous time. It's all ill do a favor for you and take in your big supporter but you do a favor for me and take in my big supporters grandchild.

Pesach, actually. Or right after Pesach.

Not to undermine or dismiss anyone's pain, but please stop with broad sweeping generalizations that say 'all' schools, principals, Roshei yeshiva and so on are power hungry, money hungry or otherwise bad people altogether and on purpose.

I'm not saying that some aren't, but painting every school with the same wide brush just isn't fair.

I am sorry I did not mean to imply that there was some sense of "hierarchy" and I meant nothing against any of the school's I listed and particularly Bnos Penina, I know several families that send to Bnos Penina and they all love it and I also know of cases where Bnos Penina bent over backwards to take children in.

All I meant to say was that each school has thier own chinuch, thier own priorities and thier own personality. The majority of any specific school send's thier childrent to that school because that is the one they wanted.

And the school normally tries if at all possible to take in children from families that they believe will be happy with what they are offering in term's of chinuch, not families that down the line will complain and badmouth them.

It work's both way's, so to simply have a "lottery" system is just ludicrous becuase the system is overburdened and does not work for 5% of people it should be destroyed for the other 95%?

That has nothing to do with "toradike" it has to do with socialism.

Seems some people did not read two posts later.

So says a smug lady who got her children into the school of her choice.... Very Happy

A very big Rov and Askun told me a long time ago that all the schools that were totally 'lishmoh' didnt survive..

Just cause you put a smiley face at the end doesn't make the comment non-judgemental.

Working on the assumption that you don't know me, well, you don't know me. And you don't know what we went through to get our daughter into the school of our choice and what we are doing to keep her there and how hard we intend to work to keep her there.

And it doesn't make my comment untrue, either. Not every principal is looking to spend his or her day working towards a record of how many parents they made cry themselves to sleep that night. Come on.

And I believe that all of my comments on this forum, across the board, have shown that I dislike generalizations and always comment against them. I stayed out of the thread for a while now because I didn't want to hurt anyone, but this isn't fair.

The only person that would open up a school in Lakewood is someone who is power hungry. Am for a school in Lakewood to be successful you need to be power hungry. The school has to be your priority and not your family. And yes every successful school in Lakewood the owners are sooooo power hungry it's scary.

That statement can not be further from the truth. I personally know many people who run mosdos here in town and all of them are fine people who are there to help the chinuch of our children. They are in a thankless position as if they are expected to open a school for you and deal with everyone who complains and degrades them. There is a severe shortage of schools and maybe if everyone was not so negative towards those that have schools, there might be some more people who would consider opening a school. I myself have contemplated opening one and have been pushed by some people to do so, but I can not handle the agmas nefesh that will come along with it. The fact is that I can not possibly make everyone happy and will end up having my name dragged through the mud by some disgruntled people who want everyone to take their child into school but not conform in any way to the schools standards......

Shame on the entire community for breeding such a system!
I know all of you will start to lambaste me for painting an entire community with a broad brush....I've seen these comments before. But we all must admit that the reason schools reject children for the wrong reasons, is because we as a community support and even request it in indirect ways. There is no acceptance of people who don't exactly fit into your own box.

Send her to public school. Then the same school principals/community leaders who rejected her will come and save her. Because then they will a high out of it.

My DD told me (don't know if this is true or rumor) that as of yesterday there were 3 girls not placed, and that BY did not open 9th grade because of this (the older classes started yesterday).

Other high schools started today. I hope every girl was placed.

My DD doesn't go to BY and I don't know if this is fact.

BY started on schedule. Shiras Devorah started a day late. There were girls placed midnight the night before school.

And there are still 9th graders not in school (or rather garduated 8th graders... Crying ) And BY did not take a single one of them. Bais Shaindel is willing to take some, but not all, so they are waiting for some of the girls to give up and go elsewhere. What a sad situation our town is in.

I know someone very well in this horrendous matzav and can tell you that while some schools are very mentchlich, others are very not!! Some schools really care about everyone, even when they can't accept each girl who applies to them while others are only concerned with the status of their own mosad and could care less about everyone else. And why people think that those schools are the greatest thing in town is beyond my understanding.

What's wrong with the girls giving up and going elsewhere? There are other good schools!

True. Sad. I heard there are some girls who are holding out for specific schools. That's not the same as not getting in anywhere.

I could be wrong I think she means going out of their current (since we are talking about both Lakewood and monsey) city. Since no local school would take them.

I thought she meant there are girls who refuse to go to schools that willing to accept them, because they are holding out trying to force acceptance from the schools they want to go to.

That's different than going to schools outside of the city. I wouldn't be ready to send my 14-year-old OOT for high school.
