My 2 year old son has been by the same babysitter since he is 11 weeks old & he loves her and is very attached to her. I'm switching to a new playgroup in less than a month & I'm so nervous for him. The only people he is not scared to be alone with are me, my dh and my babysitter. I invite friends & family over with their kids & he interacts well with them but if I would leave, he would scream & cry. I know this because I've tried it in the past. I want him to enjoy this new place I'm sending him to and I don't want him to be too traumatized by the change. I've talked to him about it & told him that he's going to a new playgroup soon and I try to make it sound fun & exciting but I don't think he really understands.
Anyone have any tips or advice for me to make this transition as smooth as possible?

Call it playgroup. Take him for a visit to meet the teacher and see the room. A few days before prepare a knapsack and tell him its for playgroup.
