Can anyone recommend a free email account that is good and safe for kids? I would LOVE to limit or eliminate ads and also have parental controls as to who DS can email or receive emails from.

I never heard of anything like that, so I can't help you but I can tell you that aol with a k9 filter has no ads and as for the parental controls usually knowing the parents could check the email is enough

Doesn't yeshivanet have an email-only option with no access to websites? Try looking into that.
