Anyone used Sittercity?

I would not recommend them. I joined the site to contact a babysitter that looked good and lived near me. When I called, she didn't speak any English and had her kids come to the phone to translate. I have had success with neighborhood email groups (like the yahoo groups) if you are in a Jewish neighborhood, and also with some agencies. Looking for a babysitter is difficult and I feel like you should pay a referral fee at the end, and not a monthly recurring fee only to sift through profiles. That being said, I tried the site a number of years ago, and maybe it has gotten better since then.

I used the site a couple of years ago and my experience was mostly positive, although I didn't end up hiring anyone from there. The quality of the candidates varied widely, and it was not always apparent based on the profiles.

OP here. I would never hire anyone without doing my own due diligence. I guess it just seems the profiles being there are at least a good jumping off point. I've tried my local frum Yahoo group, and all it got me were some very flakey sem girls Rolling Eyes
