I tutored a neighbors son and she owed me money for about 2 months now. In the begining every time she bumped in to shed say "I know I owe you money, I have to remember to get it to you"
I think she totally meant it but is just busy and a little disorganized.
In the past few weeks we've seen each other but she hasn't even said anything.
I felt like she probably forgot so I called her up tonight and she sent it right over. But she seemed suprised that I called her up about it.
I feel funny now and awkward.
What should I have done? I didn't desperatly need the money or a/t but it was just rightfully mine...

It's sometimes uncomfortable to be in that position, but you did nothing wrong.

No. She did. I don't think she did it intentionally, but she didn't pay and then put you in an awkward position. You did nothing wrong.

You did absolutely the right thing. She was wrong not to pay you right away. I can't imagine why she found your call surprising. Did she expect you to forget about the debt?

She probably was surprised because she completely forgot about it.
Or she didn't expect you to call and probably felt silly because she owed you money and you needed it.
Either way don't feel bad.
