If it tastes good, it's fine. When it becomes bad, it tastes like cheese.

You may have already given it to them, but in the future, I would taste it plain first. I find that the taste of coffee sometimes disguising the taste of milk that is off or near off.

I wouldn't taste it. Not all harmful growth is noticeable by taste. Botulism, a very dangerous toxin, for example, has no taste.
