Hi,
I do not have a degree in education and am unfamiliar with the degree requirements. I am posting for a friend who is not on imamother. I hope you ladies can help me out.
What are the differences, if any, between the degree programs needed to become a teacher (elementary or high school) in the US vs. Israel? Do most teachers in Israel have a BA in Education, or do they study at seminaries? (Do seminaries offer a BA, or a teaching certificate? What is the difference?). Are there different types of teaching certificates in Israel, or are they all essentially the equivalent?
My friend is more familiar with the US system but is thinking of studying here in Israel.
Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
Thx!

I only know about Israel and am not a teacher but know many teachers. Teachers must have a BA or BEd (which is given at teachers colleges) and then a teaching certificate (a year or two course with a paid internship). I think some schools will take teachers without degrees or certificates. but they will be paid significantly less.
