Hi, I'm confused.

I'm looking for a winter coat for my almost 3 year old for this winter. I see jackets/coats online. I don't know how warm it'll be. How do I know if its warm enough to be a winter coat? They call them all jackets.
It says puffer jackets or padded jacket. Is that what I'm looking for?

I guess it depends where you're looking, different brands have their own ratings for how warm the coats/jackets are. Puffer jacket could be warm, but it's hard to tell without seeing it or having some more description.

I'm frustrated looking for a longer coat for my 4-year-old. Her torso is long and I feel like all those short jackets don't really keep her warm.
