My children, specifically one of them, are getting tired of me saying, that's chutzpa! Please help me compile a list of do's and don'ts how they should treat me with respect. I thought of a few, but barely touched the surface. I might want to print it hang it up.

When I taught kindergarten I had 5 basic rules.

Listen the first time.
Please, use nice words.
Use inside voices.
Hands and feet are kept to ourselves.
Take care of our belongings

I think they encompass everything.

I just read somewhere (Sarah Chana Radcliffe's book, I think) about using positive reinforcements and labels instead of negative. So any time this child asks nicely, you say, "That was really respectful! I loved your pleasant tone of voice." Or, "Thank you for saying please. That is so polite!" Basically, to try to replace negative labels (chutzpah, disrespectful...) with positive labels (polite, respectful, considerate, sensitive, with an emphasis on that word) as much as possible. This usually does a better job at teaching or changing a behavior.

I was taught that the only time it's truly chutzpa is when a child pre-plans it.

Can you give an example of how they're showing a lack of respect?

I've never demanded respect. The way we taught it was by my demanding from my kids toward my DH, and him doing the same for me. And it was done sparingly.
