Need a nice hotel and activities for one day to spend the day for the two of us havin gone out in forever any ideas?

I don't love staying in the city proper- we've done the Jersey City Hyatt which is just a short ferry ride away from NYC but not in the hub. The hotel itself was really nice and it is on the water (across from Battery park). It is also easy to get from there to a nice restaurant in Teaneck for dinner. It is also right next to the Liberty Science Center, which might sound cheesy, but we really enjoyed it as 2 adults (and the Imax). We have also done (indoor) tennis nearby and dozens of other NYC activities.

A small place on the beach. I know of one on the NJ side, but I"m guessing there are places closer to NY. It should be quiet now, but still nice enough to walk along the beach, and hear the waves in your room.

Philly, Newport, Boston, Baltimore, Deal - any of those sound interesting? What do you like to do? Do you need a minyan or kosher restaurants?

The W Hoboken is really nice and you can get a city view room with a porch, take a ferry to the city, go out to eat, shows, empire state building, shopping, walk around, bryant park, highline....
