You need patience. It can take 18 months to go away altogether.
So many kids get it that I think it is better to get it at 3 then at 4 or 5 when a kid already knows to be self conscious, at 3 most kids don't care as much (not that it helps you now)

Put a piece of an onion at night on the molluscum. cover it with a bandaid.
it worked with each of my kids!!!
and that was after trying all of the dermatologist's suggestions. (RetinA and over the counter stuff)

a bunch of my kids have gotten it. I've been through everything! The only thing that works is called beetle juice. it has to be administered by a dermatologist and not all of them want to do it. If you pm me I can give you names of docs in Brooklyn who do it.

I second beetle juice. We found a two year losing battle. It did scab up bad after the beetle juice but then it disappeared.

This may not be helpful once there are a few, but I know someone who takes her child straight to the dermatologist as soon as she sees one. Her doctor shaves it off and BH she has never had any issues with this method.

Every night apply apple cider vinegar and cover with a band aid. Works like a charm.

Does apple cider vinegar really really work? How long does it take? My 3 and almost 5 yr olds have it and it really grosses me out which I feel so bad about.

I am just repeating what I've heard over and over again. People swear by it. Worth a try. Not expensive.
runninglate: I don't think it burns when applied.

Apple cider vinegar does make your skin hot and burn a little bit. I wash my face with it. My skin will get all red, but it is not painful. You'll see how your child reacts. If it hurts too much, you'll remove it. It feels better within a few seconds of being removed. Make sure not to put it near or in the eyes.
