Yeast Conversion Table
3/4 ounce=2 Tbsp.
http://www.goodcooking.com/con.....n.htm
IF 3/4 oz dry yeast (3 packets) is 2 tablespoons, then for Rebbitzen Kanievsky's recipe, which calls for 4 tbsp. dry yeast, you need 6 packets?
Isnt 6 packets a lot?
TIA

each packet is 2 1/4 tsp.
3 tsp = 1 tbsp.
so 3 packets is a little more than 2 tbsp.
I'm not familiar iwth the recipe you're referring to, but my recipe calls for 4 tbsp. dry yeast and it comes out great. How much flour is in your recipe? If it's a lot, it sounds about right. Mine is 15-18 cups.

I use the big pack, not the little packets.
But each pack is 2.25 tsp.
4 tbsp = 12 tsp.
6 x 2.25tsp = 13.5tsp (so 6 packs is too much)
5 x 2.25tsp = 11.25 tsp which is close enough. I would do that. 5 packets.
