Oh, and as far as chabad is concerned, I believe that the categorize as chasidic and not chassidish. A little spelling change opens a whole new world.
Just sayin....

If I had to choose one, probably modern heimish or modern yeshivish.

I'm a mix of (old school, NOT progressive/tzioni/feminist) MO, JPF, heimish, yeshivish... I took from my education, my learning, my husband.

I'm heimish not chassidish. You would say chassidish if you knew me, but I consider it heimish. Heimish should have a different box. Also, the majority of ppl on this site are not belz, satmar, stolin, etc. I think that chassidish is so popular b/c of the lubavs. on the site fyi.

I am a Jew and follow Rabbinic Judaism. A Yid should choose the derech that makes them the best Eved Hashem and that is different for each person.

We had this discussion on another thread. Mizrachi is a passe term that encompassed MO, DL, etc. Not used derogatorily.

I selected "Other" because I barely know what any of those categories mean. It drives me crazy that we feel the need to sort ourselves into these categories, but the definitions of each one are so elusive. They all seem to mean different things to different people. Yet if you aren't "placed" in one category or another, it's as if you don't belong in the Jewish community at all.

I think I'm Litvish (my grandparents originated from Poland/Hungary/Austria), I'm also Yeshivish - my boys are in Yeshivas, and my girls in Bet Yaakov, does that make me Yeshivish? I'm Tzioni - I think the State of Israel is a wonderful miracle in our day, and certainly a sign that the Mashiach is near, and I live in Israel. I might also be MO - I have a computer, not a TV, I wear a scarf and not a sheitel.
Am I confused? Why the labels??

I think the categories should be:

Trying hard to be a good jew
Believe in Hashem
Orthodox

You can fit into as many of these as you like, they are not mutually exclusive.

One thing I have learned from imamother is how different the categories are in different countries, and how it really doesn't matter.

Beat me to it. Probably they weren't chassidish, went to Litvish yeshivas, so a generation or two later everyone IDs as Litvish by default.

Your right. You do find that a lot these days. Even my brothers, although they dont identify as litvish, they definitely lean towards the litvish/yeshivish ways.

I'm a member of the one and only true sect. No need to elaborate.
