I don't know what the "family" part has to do with anything, but sheer nude hose go with everything whether you are family or not. If you do wear black hose, make them sheer as well. Opaque black hose are practical, not dressy.

Personally I would wear nude, but then again, I couldn't care two hoots about what anyone thinks if they are crazy enough to analyize my choice of hosery. I will do what I think looks best/is most comfortable for me.
