Whenever I feed my 8 month old, he gets verryyy excited. (I'm talking about baby food jars/ oatmeal...not nursing him, although he gets excited with that too!) I think a little too excited. It's hard to know when to stop feeding him since he'll cry when I don't put the spoon back in his mouth. Here's an example of what will happen: baby will go in highchair, will start feeding him. After a couple of minutes, he'll start to get very restless and jumpy and kvetchy! At first I think he had enough but he's opening his mouth for more. I'll give him more but literally a second after it goes in his mouth, he'll start to cry! I don't know what he wants! Eventually I'll just stop feeding him and get him busy with something else. Any ideas what could be going on?

hmm. not sure what's going on. one idea though, at 8 months he's ready to eat on his own- doesn't need mush and doesn't need spoon-feeding. try giving him cubes of avocado, cooked squash, cooked sweet potato, etc. he might like that type of eating better.

Exactly what smss said. Stop feeding him! Let him take the lead, and he'll do it his way.
