I am one of those people who needs to be wearing actual clothing at home and not PJs, even cute ones. There is something about being dressed that gets me all "time for business." That said, I have two "house skirts" that work for me now and need more, and for shirts a bunch of ugly stained loose fitting long sleeved t-shirts that I wear with the skirts. Underneath skirts I wear leggings. I have a ton of leggings so I'm fine on those.

I need help. I appreciated Dolly's suggestion about getting nice, comfy clothes to wear at home but I don't know where to start with expanding my meager collection of house clothes. Could you all please help me with suggestions of actual items (link to them if you can)?

I need:
-long or covering elbows shirts, preferably not t-shirts like I have now, which look gross. I would like them to cover the collarbone so that I don't have to wear a shell underneath.
-short skirts- by short I mean between knee-length and mid-calf. They need to be kind of swingy or stretchy because I have a ton of baby gates to step over. I can't tell you how many times I've fallen on my face because a loose just-passed-the-knee skirt wasn't stretchy enough.
-dresses are fine too..I just never wear them so I didn't think about it until Dolly brought up summer dresses.

Please, comfy. I can't do uncomfortable at home. We are tight on money so I can't pay a ton, but my husband said that he supports me getting started on a new home wardrobe.

Here are some skirts. Some are our esthetic, many are not. I haven't used this source myself yet. You have to be adventurous. Watch the measurements; make sure they are big enough. If cotton, allow for shrinkage. Poly doesn't shrink.

Everything can be washed, best in COLD WATER, INSIDE OUT, the dryer is often ok, for cotton and rayon - but they shrink. Especially rayon. But you may want to wash a delicate poly in a mesh bag, and air-dry draped over a hanger. Not hanging on it, draped over it.

Allow for shrinkage!! You want these clothes loose on you.

Not to hijack the thread here, but any suggestions for shabbos wear that is comfortable yet elegant? Like to wear lounging on the couch but out of the house, too.

Not shabbos robes or two piece loungewear, please.

I think it' pretty easy to find comfy knitwear dresses with full A-line skirts. Knit wrap-style dresses are easy to find these days. Look in Land's End, travel clothing catalogues, etc. Buy a few shells or dickeys to fill out the collar, if necessary.

You can find some nice dresses that are not shabbos robes but pretty and tznius if you search Muslim clothes. They often have a mandarin collar though.

Can anyone recommend a comfy top that doesn't require a shell? I used to get long-sleeved from Old Navy, and they covered the collarbone completely. Haven't seen them for five years or so...

If you fit into children's clothing, they usually have tshirts that would do the trick in Target/Walmart.
You can also try a cotton zip-up....
