The best food I've ever had in Miami, and I've been to a lot of restaurants over the years, is Grill Time in North Miami Beach (Biscayne Blvd and 161 street). They have other locations but that's the only one I've been to. Amazing amazing food.

Lower end - I like House of Dog on 41st street and the Mexican place in Sunny Isles.

The one on 41 is grill house, not affiliated with grill time.

I used to love grill time, but last time I was there I was very disappointed. The place was packed w only two servers and we waited ages for the server to come over. I did not like the changes to the menu ( steak w no bbq sauce available?!) so I left. Don't know what the food is like any more.

If you're not chalav yisrael try tasti cafe for breakfast/brunch. If you are chalav yisrael try Shemtovs- the service is not great but the food is.

Bagel Time is a bagel café on Alton road off 41st Street.

Then there is Holy Bagel on Biscayne near Grill Time.
