I will be going to Miami beach in a few weeks. I've been there several times and always enjoyed the beach very much. Somebody just told me that there is a halachah that if there is a male in the water it is assur for a women to be in the water as well. Anybody ever heard of this halachah? Of course I wouldn't go into the water if I see a man right there but what about if he's a mile or two away? Is that assur too?

I really have no information for you, but seriously, a mile or two? Is there a required distance; is that what you're asking? This planet is 2/3 water.

I think you should ask this to your LOR and not to the women on this board.

Agree this is a question for your rav.
You are asking a very diverse group of women.

Agreed.

My rav would tell you no problem (and I know this because my family has been to the beach with him and his family). But the fact that you're asking leads me to believe that you are well to the right of me.

Ask. And enjoy your trip.

I've heard of this, that even if everyone is tznius they shouldn't bathe close.

I say, as long as enough distance to not touch... but that's me.

I think it's allowed if you are far enough apart to be blurry.

With my vision, that's about 2 feet.

With mine it's 2 cm.

Oh wait Barbara. Silly me! It's the MAN's gaze that matters.

Just hand out blurry sunglasses.

Or wear them yourself so you don't see that there are men in the water.
