When do you tip your son's (elementary school) rebbe, Chanuka or Purim? About how much are you supposed to give (l live in Brooklyn). Thanks!

its most common to tip chanuka and purim. if you are able to do more they will accept a tip anytime.
I dont live in brooklyn. we give as much as we can afford. I heard of people giving $50 up to over $200. the most important part is a personalized note expressing your appreciation.

We try giving both, chanuka and Purim (some times also Rosh Chodesh). DH says he once heard it is segula to have good children, but it is for sure an instant segula that the rabbi / teacher will invest more in your child, the amount of money you gave him is not the factor, it is him feeling your appreciation!
Lots of naches.

At the start of the year I go with my boy's to their rebbiem houses to bring a bottle of wine on eruv succos. I always find it to be a special visit.
Chanuka time I give with the class gift.
Purim I give a larger gift ($50)
