I would want a private jacuzzi.
A garden with a bridge.
A little nursery off the master bedroom for little babies and eventually the crib would be switched for a couch.
I would want 2 dish washers.
Sky lights.
Metal bars by the windows for safely.
A big storage room in the basement.

this is such a fun thread!

way out things you won't do but would be so fun:

a roof garden
a slide to go downstairs easily

more practical: Instead of a pesach kitchen, have a walled off counter at one end of your kitchen or dining room. It can have a sink, stove, small fridge and some basic counter space. And as much cupboard and drawers as you can fit. Put sliding walls across. Before pesach you can use it to cook in advance. You can still kasher the rest of your kitchen erev pesach if you want to have more work space on pesach itself, but no need to kasher stoves, sinks etc.

Most people have all the family home for pesach...you don't want to spend it cooking in the basement or a back room.

I found that Houzz thread, here it is:
http://www.houzz.com/discussio.....-cool

It's very long and there are some wacky ideas on it, but there's also a lot of valuable info.

The people I know with a Pesach kitchen use it to cook for weeks before Pesach and then convert their regular kitchen at the last minute. They don't actually cook in the basement during the holiday.

Forgot to add a laundry room with room for folding and ironing. I once had it- amazing!
Oh and proper sound insulation so my kids don't hear my phone conversations! And windows that block outside traffic sounds.

this house is going to have 50 rooms.

One more - a gym or exercise room if you are into that. Enough space for 2 or 3 machines.

A mud room. A wide mud room.
With cubbies for everyones bags and current coats.
With closets and sections for gloves/hats/boots.

A laundry room on the bedroom floor.
With big drawers that each serve one type of laundry (one drawer for darks/ whites/ hand wash)

A pesach kitchen.

Full extension of all drawers! (a seriously overlooked annoyance if not done. at least in my opinion)

A sink near/ in the dining room for washing for challah.

A playroom off the kitchen. Everyone knows the kids want to play near the mommy anyway.

A nice basement with at least 2 guest bedrooms and a full bath.

A study close to the entrance with a section for myself for office stuff (where I could do mail/ work on the computer).

A spot for an extra freezer somewhere on the main floor (no more: can someone run downstairs.....!)

Oh....it's so nice to dream. Hope OP makes good choices and has lots of mazal!

I'll add my 2 cents for what it's worth.

A parve dishwasher is way more practical than a parve sink. Baking is a breeze. When I just have a few items knives, peelers, containers that need washing I store them dirty in the dw till it's full. No need to take up counter space with drying mixing bowls, etc. It may come out cheaper than a cabinet plus you get the counter space.

About the instant hot water faucet, I'm not sure it can be used on Shabbos so we just keep a pump pot going all the time.

Regarding all the noise issues, I find a good white noise machine to be a great investment. The $75 ones from BB&B are worth paying for (with a coupon) because the cheaper round ones don't work great.

I'm also starting to build soon. My wish list:

1st floor:
2 car garage
Large dr/lr
Eat in kitchen
Small sitting room off kitchen with bookshelves
Peach kitchen off of regular kitchen
Mudroom
Guest suite with w/c accessible bathroom, for older parent, or me when I'm old.
Study

2nd floor
5 bedrooms
3 bathrooms
Laundry room
Little reading niche in hallway

Basement
Playroom
3 bedrooms
2 bathrooms

Attic
3 bedrooms
2 bathrooms

I hope to rent out basement for income.
I'm looking into a lot of energy efficiency tips to reduce costs and maybe even get tax credits where applicable (not sure if they're still offered

I may leave attic unfinished to save $$$ now and do it later when my kids get married.

I'd love to do cool things like warming plates under sidewalk and driveway so no snow shoveling, indoor Succah roof, skylight...but all will depend on cost...we'll have a budget so that will help prioritize what we do.
FYI, heated sidewalks are really inexpensve... if you are redoing the pavement anyway. Redoing the pavement is what costs a lot. Once you're doing anyway it's practically next to nothing to add the heating elements underneath.

NO exposed wire cords anywhere for anything

I like to shop for household items and kids clothes on sale. In my dream house there would be plenty of storage space for these things.

Seriously, you don't let them use your other bathrooms? How do you implement that?

And whats the weather like in Mississippi in 1952?

Rolling Laughter

In my totally dream home (meaning, not realistic dreams), I would have HUGE library with bookshelves high up and one of those rolling ladders to get to the top shelves.

OP, definitely try to put in some fun places like window seats!

Also, a gas line for a BBQ (so you don't need to deal with propane bottles). If you want a rotisserie, make sure to plan for an outdoor electrical outlet near the BBQ.

Enough outdoor outlets around the house.

In ground sprinklers. Multiple outdoor faucets spaced around the house.

A decorative area with garbage bins and recycling bins so they don't look ugly but still are functional.

My friend has an unfinished basement - they kids ride bikes and scooters there year round. It's pretty awesome.

Do you also want some detail ideas? I've seen bathroom vanities with internal outlets, so you can charge a shaver or use a hair dryer and not have to use the countertop. I love that idea.

A very large kitchen sink.
When I redid my kitchen I went to Home Depot to get a sink.
I wanted a sink that was bigger than standard.
The next size up was too expensive.
They had a super large and deep one that was 1/2 the price.
I thought to myself that looks like a bathtub.
I love my sink it makes washing dishes so easy.
Also, get a long neck faucet. The water should fall as close to you as possible this will save your back, so you don't have to bend over your sink as much.
