Please share the questions you ask and what you look for when interviewing someone for housekeeping plus babysitting position.

1. Do you have any experience with children? What ages?

What were your responsibilities?

2. what do you do when a child doesn't listen?

3. Are you always on time? Will you give me advanced notice if you can't make it?

4. Do you know CPR? Do you know how to identify if a child is choking?

5. Do you have any training with hygiene?

6. Do you wash your hands after you use the bathroom? Do you use soap?

Great questions Opinionated. Thank you. Anyone else? Also, how do you communicate detailed questions when the candidate has a poor grasp of English (which is often the case).

If she has children- what are her childcare arrangements? What about when her child is sick?

How will she get to your home every day? How long will it take, and is there a backup plan in case her car breaks down (if applicable)?

How many years did she work with previous families? Why did she leave each job?

What kinds of things does she like to do with children?

Can she give you a sample of a daily schedule with a child that age?

Is she open to following specific instructions on how you would like your child cared for, or does she strongly prefer to do things her way?

Has she worked with a frum family before? Assess how much she knows in terms of kosher and holidays.

If her English is not good enough to ask and answer interview questions, there's a good chance it won't be good enough to handle the daily communication necessary and it might not be a good long term arrangement.
