We moved out to Monsey over a year ago & are loving it! My in laws live in Monsey & we have many relatives & friends here...
Though please try that ur kids should be accepted to schools before your move. It's very hard to get into schools.

It also got me a long time to get used to taking taxis all over, some days I can spend $50! On taxis!
I've become desperate to drive....

Secretly get a license
Park your car in someone else's driveway
When u drive, wear sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat

Seriously. Do what u gotta do!

I remember the freedom I felt when I got my license at 19.
I wish your rabbis would let u ladies drive....
OK, well Good Luck

I wouldn't go behind a schools back, what am I teaching my kids...
Most of my neighbors drive so it wouldn't be weird in my area
& a lot of my relatives drive as well
Waiting to see what school my daughter will end up being accepted into

Amother complaining about the problematic transportation probably meant her kids, older sons. I would want my older kids who I'd let take a bus themselves to be in a mostly frum at least Jewish environment and not on a mixed crowed bus.

Hi we are looking for info on Monsey ,

Let me start by saying ,we are currently living in BP (grew up here) young (27) chassidish, we have 3 children kn'h,

Looking to move so we can raise our children in a comfortable/affordable place ( BP getting to crowded ),

What area's would be interesting for us to looking into?
What are chasidisha schools and chedarim are there?

If you moved from BP/Williamsburg, what was your biggest adjustment?
Do you regret your 'move'?

Any tips or suggestion would be greatly appreciated,
TIA

(Amother since busy with this IRL)

I moved away from the city and am glad I did. What I miss are the busy city life, I enjoy it. Otoh, I love the calmness, the green, the time I got of not always be on the rush and hearing cars or sirens. Also I can now enjoy my house, cook and bake more and play more together with the kids as I have more space.
When we moved here it was first a very big adjustment. I had to learn to do planned weekly grocery orders. Shop in advance everything possible and not leave for last minute. Also the shopping style is not how I am used to the city like going up and down the block for everything I have on my list. That is why it is sometimes easier for me to take the Monsey trails for over an hour drive to get back city shopping style. Here outside the city most stuff needed in a house can be delivered like toys or housewares . You should considerate having to catch up on new friends and lose old. Also traveling into the city often if you have family simchas or plain visiting them.
Good luck in what you decide.

you're right. How about creating for them a kosher bus? Meanwhile I will have to travel with them or not take them along at all.
