I have very chapped hands during the winter that s/t bleed and scale. I use a lot of cream. For many yrs. I used Eucerin (the kind for hands) and recently I tried Neutrogena. I'm curious what other people w/ very dry skin use and what works for them.

St. Ives works like a charm for me. I like to use the unscented ones so that the fragrance shouldn't burn my hands.

Carmex Everyday Healing Cream. My hands cracked and bled before I found this.

Gold Bond Intensive Healing Hand Cream. The only thing even close to Carmex.

L'Occitane Shea Butter. I confess, its even better than Carmex, but too expensive given how much I use.

Eucerin, Nivea, Norwegian Formula, and Dr. Fischer's hand cream (I think that's the name, it's an Israeli brand in a pink tube). I've been told that for people whose dry skin is complicated by eczema, formulas with urea are the best, and the higher %age urea the better.

Aquaphor is good, but greasy. Fine for nighttime under a pair of gloves but messy for daytime use.

I use Mary Kay Satin Hands. I love it!

If it's really bad, I sometimes use Aquaphor. Rub it in well so your hands don't stay sticky/greasy.

A coworker of mine introduced me to Yves Rocher Hand Cream - they have several kinds but the good ones are the Ultra Nourishing cream and the Cold Weather Balm with Shea Butter.

I have never had chapped hands since.

I find the Aquaphor interesting. It seems so greasy when you put it on, but if you really need it, it absorbs so fast.

Two winters ago I had 9 band-aids on my hands. No joke. Hands felt like sandpaper & touching certain materials like silk was uncomfortable. This winter maybe once I had a crack on my finger? BH the time to post this reply is worth it if it will help someone with this "trivial" yet majorly frustrating problem - especially us women in the kitchen washing hands so much etc.

Here's what's worked for me:

!. Humidifiers going
2. Pure coconut oil - With warmth it liquefies & can be used on Shabbos; my rav said to just keep it where it will stay in liquid form, so I have a piece of foil formed so that it will stay on top of the urn. I use this on Shabbos for my lips too.
3. I'm not sure if this really helped, but I think that it did:
Supplementing Black Currant Seed Oil (or evening primrose oil. Here is a link about if from reputable source. http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/AR......html
4. I use latex gloves often too to avoid extra washing (even in bathroom, ya. - on Shabbos to avoid the freezing cold water hand washing)
Hope this helps!

Nivea Creme.

Not any other type of Nivea. It has to say Nivea Creme, it's a thicker white cream.
