how about getting it lacquered

it's done in a silver store, they put some sort of glossy finish over the silver and it doesn't tarnish

I have had that done to silver mezuza cases before hanging them and to my husband's menorah cuz it doesn't fit in my china closet

(anon, cuz I've told a lot of ppl. irl)

I have a lucite box for our chanukah menorah; it opens on top (the top comes off); and I do not need to polish the menorah all year. It was custom made. I believe most silver stores make them.

Lacquering is great. My leichter sits out on the buffet all week Smile

I asked a guy who works with silver who recommended me not to lacquer as it ruins the silver.
What I do with my silver is wrap in cling wrap to keep from tarnishing. I unwrap each Shabbos to use and rewrap Sunday. I only need to polish once every 3-4 weeks. But the cling wrap looks awful.
My menorah I wrap in cling wrap and keep it in a cabinet all year. I would love to get a lucite box for menorah and Megillah to keep in DH study. Where do you get those?

Most silver stores should be able to make lucite boxes for you.
