How do people afford them? People r moving further out to save on house prices but property taxes r so high.

some people put in a tenant (not legal) to help pay the taxes. In all the morgage (it includes taxes) should be cheaper than a brooklyn house with brooklyn taxes. Most people moving to Monsey now are from Brooklyn\williamsberg.

Depends on which town you live in. Chestnut Ridge isn't so bad.

Taxes are higher here but it is still cheaper than buying in Brooklyn. House prices are way less. We also dony need a summer bungalow.
