ETA: So I guess I'm really looking more for ideas of what are good colors for each room. Changed the thread title, now what do you have to say?
We are moving into a new rental house and the landlord offered to let us choose the paint colors. They are repainting interior and exterior. I'm terrible with these things, anyone want to help me pick? There are 3 bedrooms- master, kids' and guest. A kitchen, dining room, living room. And the outside of the house. What say you?!

They want relatively neutral colors btw. Like, it doesn't have to all be off-white, but nothing too out of the ordinary...

I like bright white, but obviously if you liked that it would have occurred to you before and you would not have asked this question.... You could do a stripe on the ceiling which is becoming pretty popular now (I do not go for it)....

Go into a popular paint store and ask what the popular colors are.
there is a standard off white, cream, gray, beige, etc that everyone uses.

How about painting one wall in each room in a slightly darker shade, like a taupe or deep beige in the living areas - or in the kids' rooms one wall in a different color like a soft pink or blue. It adds interest w/o being too dominant or jarring.

I like cream /off white for the living room area. let the kids choose a color for their bedroom. Take into account that dark colors make your house look smaller! If you have a small house, I would go with lighter /brighter colors.
