Can someone please advise what to do about health insurance for a greencard holder?
My DS should get his greencard soon. He's a student & currently has foreign student insurance.
Medicaid is not a good idea as you can't be a burden on the state.
What health cover can he get? His wife has Medicaid.
He will stay a student for a while.

whats wrong with his student cover? Thats what we use when we were in NY.

It's specifically for foreign students on a student visa.
Which type did you have?

If he is a student there should be student insurance for American students through his school. If he or his wife work then work insurance. If none of the above then insurance through the marketplace is alright (even with the govt kickback if he can get it) with a green card. You are correct that Medicaid is a problem with a green card.

yes we were on a student visa. it was a long time ago so don't remember.
