Would you take your eight yr old son to a mixed beach (just to play, not to swim)?

I'd let him swim too if there's a lifeguard (but probably not in January). - Maybe you should state who you're asking

Depends the season.

Late May - Early Sept: After hours, when the beach is empty and there is no one there, accept for other frum people doing the same.

Rest of the year: No Problem.

I would (actually my kids go alone so I'm not sure where they go), but basically my kids stop mixed swimming on their own as their friends do (or don't).

Our community standards are to not take boys swimming together with women past age three, and some don't ever. I wouldn't deliberately take my son someplace where women might be extremely untznius (if it is now beach season in your location).

You are asking a very broad spectrum of people their opinion and you will end up confused. Someone here will justify you, someone else will make you feel like you are comitting a cardinal sin.

I'd actually be more likely to take him to swim vs play. Once you are in the water you can't see most of the untznius people very well; they are usually out on the sand sunbathing.
