Thought it would be a cute idea to dress up my 2yo son, who has long hair, in a dress/tutu for a costume to match his sister. Do you think it is cute or off-putting?

I did. Pretty common in my community (chassidish) to do that the last purim before the upsheren.
Is it accepted in your circles? You don't want to be accused of strange parenting for encouraging cross-dressing... know your audience I guess.

I thought about it but decided it was too weird. In the end I dressed my son as a hippie. Long hair!
It was probably the last time I got to decide on his costume on my own. After that he was fully verbal and able to express his opinions about his costume.

I had 3 different costumes prepared for him last year. the one my husband was wearing, the one my daughter was wearing and an Elmo costume because he told his therapist he is being Elmo....

In my community this is never done, why use a holiday to be le'havdil "mechanech" a child to an averah?
By chassidim it is common, though. So I guess it depends.

No way! I think it's stupid, not "cute".

If it came from my son, I wouldn't forbid it or be weirded out/shame him for possible "gay/trans" behavior.
But I would never dress my son as a girl for my own amusement.

Heck no!
There are a million other things you could choose, without dressing him up as a girl.

Why not? I once dressed my 1 year old as a girl.

my two year old (almost almost three) keeps on saying how he wants to be a princess.
Im on the fence about it because I would hate to have to make a big deal and disappoint him because of what people may perceive about my chinuch. He just innocently wants to dress like his big sister whom he adores.
