My 13 year old, totally not a drama queen, DD, woke up in middle of the night with severe pain in her leg/thigh and has been in pain ever since. She says it's gotten slightly better as the day went on, although it still looks pretty bad to me. She is limping when she walks and can't lift her leg (ie from the floor to rest it on the couch). When she is not moving it, it feels fine. It is not swollen, red, or tender when touched. It's really odd because it's not from an injury, it started out of the blue (while sleeping) and google is not telling me what it can be! Also, sometimes when she walks/limps on it, the affected foot automatically double taps.

I will go to the dr tomorrow morning but until then am hoping to get some ideas from you. . .

TIA!

check it out but it may be caused by a growth spurt. Motrin should help.

Any other symptoms? Even seemingly unrelated ones like headache or whatever?

None whatsoever.

Also, re growing pains-would they cause so much pain for an entire day?!!?

I would check it out. It doesn't matter what it could be, there could be a long list of simple answers, but pain, especially severe pain, should never be ignored.

From cramps to lyme disease to growth spurt to strept...

Get it checked out.

Hope to check it out tomorrow morning but so far nothing makes sense (sudden onset, acute pain, no other symptoms, etc) makes sense!

I had it as a teenager for several days in a stretch. It was a growth spurt! Bengay cream really helped, although it smelled up the room quite badly!

A leg cramp that lasts for over a day?!!? My leg cramps were always a few minutes and the lingering pain up to an hour or so, have people had leg cramps that hurt them for so long?
