If I were to be having a boy I was going to name the middle name Rafael in zchus of a close family member having a refuah or at least not getting worse and suffering any more with their condition.
However we are having a girl I"H so Rafael won't work....are there any girls names with meaning like Hashem should heal?
Thanks...

Are you sure that you want to do that? Think about the kid down the line - if ch"v your relative does not recover, she'll have that name (and perhaps some unfounded guilt) for the rest of her life.

I had the same situation and wanted to do the same thing. We gave our son the middle name Chaim in the zchus of a refuah sheleimah and bh she is in remission and living a normal life. She was really suffering when he was born. So maybe Chaya?
People thought we were really nuts to name with this in mind but it gave us a lot of comfort at the time and I don't regret it at all a few years later.

I wasnt really thinking of the babies feelings more of the comfort it would bring me and hopefully my relative so I need to think further about that.
Also I plan to IY"H name Yakira which means precious as the first name so I need one that will flow. Chaya is one of my names so I couldn't do that.
We don't have to do this at all it was just a thought if maybe I heard of a name that stood out as a good fit.

I know two people who had twins and there was concern about one of them, so they named her Bracha.
Alta was given in the Alta Heim for a long life (like Alter for a boy).

Vita, Vittush, Vida.
Rafaella does exist among Italian Jews for centuries.
Puah is about blowing life, I think?

Bracha isn't the same idea as Refuah.
Bracha is about drawing down something heavenly to this world. It's an add on, not a change. Refuah is about changing things from the way they are. From sick to healthy.
Chaya, Chava, Alte, have been mentioned already.
Miriam, Shifra, Geula are some other options.

So our plan was Yakira Michal originally because both DH and I like the name Michal but Yakira Bracha also flows well and has a pretty meaning - a precious bracha - which can apply to the baby being our precious bracha or can also be as I will tell my relative something DH and I pray for in their zchus which makes the name apply for them too. And for the baby - she can always GD willing know that.
What do you ladies think? If you have other ones I am not due for a while....
Chava is pretty too....

Anaelle?
I'm the amother whose son's middle name is Chaim. If our relative had ch"v passed away, I would never have told my son why we gave him that name. It works very nicely with his first name and he's not technically named after anybody, so we'd have just said we liked the name and it's meaning. Which is totally true. I still may not tell him the whole reason even though she is bh well and has an excellent prognosis.

JOOC, how does naming one's baby something provide a zechus to someone else? I understand naming a baby with issues Ch"V, R"L lo aleinu, something like Chaim or Bracha, but how does adding such a name to your new baby provide a zechus to someone else?
It's not like giving extra zedaka or davening more, etc.
