I am definitely not an expert. I have cut my own because I like a precision cut and the local sheital machers cut too free hand for me. I placed the sheital on my head and meticulously cut the bangs and angled the front of the wig making sure both sides were symmetrical.
You can try you tube videos. My friend made her sheital macher watch them and she ended up with a precision cut. The sheitals I cut were around the $500 price point. I bought them on sale and I didn't feel like spending $200 for a good cut in the city.
I have no particular talent, but I know what I like and what suits me.
